Asali ya Enzi is a Bango music show that touches on Coastal Rumba, based on new school Bango music and live performances, music that has gained popularity amongst the youth. Asali means honey and Enzi is before time so here we play the most loved Bango music new and old school.
HOUR 1 (9AM-10AM)
Jongea mgeni-This is a segment where wes mostly welcome new listeners by giving them a chance to represent, where they are calling in from. Here listeners that are part of Bahari FM fans crew give the new listeners a chance to be heard on air for the first time and as a reward I give them a chance to request one Bango song that I play in the second or third hour as a way of retaining them in the show and station. It’s a ten minutes segment.
Chakustaajabisha-This is a two minutes segment that highlights wonders of the world and unknown facts that will leave the listener amazed, before telling it as it is I tease in the beginning of the show.
HOUR 2 (10AM-11AM)
Ujumbe wako-In this hour the listener is able to deliver their message to their loved ones friends or relatives as a way of encouraging them to listen to the show this is mostly done through the stations sms line or our social media platforms.
Asali ya siku-This is a segment where the listener gets to choose two songs from one Bango music band or one Bango artist then I put them head to head in a voting session by call ins. I take ten phone calls from the listener and at the end I tally the votes the song that emerges with more votes gets to be the song of the day where I play it at the beginning of the third hour.
HOUR 3 (11AM-12 NOON)
Msanii wa enzi-This is an important segment in ASALI YA ENZI show that runs for approximately 30 minutes that features one Bango music artiste who gives detailed information on their musical journey.
The difference that Msanii wa Enzi segment brings in the society is how the artiste brings to light his life outside music, some artistes have other jobs that listeners or their fans have no idea about.I usually travel to their homes and talk to their family members too, follow them as they practice as a band and talk to them on their struggles in the Bango music industry, their life outside music, challenges when on live performances and many detailed information that the listener might not know about their favorite Bango musician. While am interviewing the artist i also use my social media account to inform the listeners and fans on who I will be interviewing so that they can send in their questions find out what they would like to know about the artiste.
Asali mpya-In this segment we have upcoming artistes that have emerged to do so well in a genre of music that was once associated with the old folks. Here I give them a chance to showcase their new music where I introduce the song to the listener and then give them a chance to scrutinize the songs. I usually premier two new songs. It is an important segment because the artiste is usually listening in in order to listen to the good or bad criticism from the fans.
HOUR 4 (12PM-1PM)
Jamvi la enzi-Because Bango Music is music of love we usually have youths that are suffering in silence in regards to heartbreaks, relationship problems and marriage issues, so I usually highlight an issue that is disturbing one of the listeners, the issue is usually explained to me before the show starts or during the show. JAMVI is an African floor mat that Is used in most Swahili homes where families seat to share a meal or evening stories so here the listeners and I tackle the issue head on to find a lasting solution for one of the troubled listener.
